Code of Conduct Policy
San Diego Book Arts (SDBA) welcomes and supports all those interested in the skills and techniques of book making. SDBA supports a learning environment free of contention and harassment, applicable to both classroom and online presence. SDBA is an educational resource open to the public.
It is within the personal development of the student to find and explore the book as an art form, including content and artist statement. Art is a vehicle for recording and reflecting our lives, our cultures, our passions and artistic voices.
We expect that classroom behavior be focused on each student’s education and exploration of book arts, and not distracted by personal passions that could disrupt the learning environment.
In order to establish a respectful and welcoming atmosphere, classrooms, online presence, and events must be free from any Politics, Discrimination, Religion, Harassment, and Hate Speech.

This statement informs our policies, procedures, and strategies. San Diego Book Arts celebrates, affirms, and welcomes the value of everyone. We understand that sometimes this can lead to difficult conversations and self-reflection, and the SDBA Board of Directors believes it is necessary to listen when experiences and feedback are shared regarding how the organization and its members can be more equitable, diverse, and inclusive for those who we serve and for each other. San Diego Book Arts is committed to continuous, proactive growth and action towards ensuring equitable access to the educational and creative resources that SDBA provides by:
Developing inclusive organizational policies
Creating a framework to build a supportive and welcoming environment
Reducing barriers that prohibit anyone from exploring the book as an art form
Seeking variety in demographics, experiences and perspectives for our membership, our leadership, and for community collaborations
Welcoming and supporting new students in their book arts education.
