San Diego Book Arts is committed to introducing artists of all ages to the delightful world of handmade books. Our goal is to offer a hands-on experience with simple as well as complex structures. The subject matter of these books can be generated in the workshops or brought in by the participants. There is a tangible product to appreciate and to take home. Most materials for the workshops are provided.

My Name: An accordion alphabet book about your name

Rooms of My Home: An accordion book about the rooms in your home. Cut the cover in the shape of a basic home using thin cardboard and cover with some nice paper to decorate. Use each panel of the accordion to draw and color some aspect of the rooms.

A heart is a flower: A flag book with hearts and flowers—made for Valentine’s day. Accordion fold is used to attach flags. Has a poem printed inside.
